Today was one of the most memorable days at our Satsangh. We had an Akanda Rama Nama Japa session at our residence.
Last Saturday, we received a message from our Guruji asking each satsanghi to chant 1 Lakh Ram Naam, for acquiring the various qualities of a devotee such as Sama (balance in pain and pleasure), Dama (control of senses), Uparati (tranquillity), Titiksha (forbearance, bearing heat and cold), Sraddha (faith and sincerity) and Samadhana (balanced state of mind).
On that day, we thought we would do a Sankalpa for each devotee and try and accomplish what seemed an uphill task of chanting 1 lakh Ram Naam in one day itself.
Sureshji recorded the chant at home and gave us the audio clip, which we played in the background. Here is a clip for those who want to hear.
Here is the Music Player. You need to installl flash player to show this cool thing!
. If you wish, you could use it for your own chanting as well, since the background is mellifluous and allows you to chant along at an easy speed.
We had around 30-35 Satsanghis attending during the day and can comfortably say that we managed to chant over 20-25 lakh times together! It was quite memorable and amazingly we did not feel any stress or exertion at all at the end of a long day of chanting. Surely, this is the power of Ram naam and our Guruji’s blessings.
To finish off, here’s an anecdote on Ram Naam – When Hanumanji crossed the ocean in search of Sita and returned successfully, Ramji was so impressed that he asked him how he had the prowess to be able to cross such an enormous ocean. The ever humble Hanumanji replied that when he was travelling he had the signet ring of Lord Rama in his mouth and the ring had the name of the lord (Ram) inscribed in it and it was the power of the Lord’s name in his mouth that gave him the strength to cross the ocean!
For a sincere devotee, the power of the Lord’s name can make any seemingly impossible feat possible. Jai Shri Ram.
Here are some pics and video from the event. Enjoy!
