AMRITAH SAASVATAH-STHAANUR-VARAAROHO MAHAATAPAAH
AMRITAH: Mritam’ means ‘dead’. Amritah means one who is Immortal and Immutable. The Naamas done earlier explained that the Lord has no birth and no death; He is changeless. This name of explains the nature of Lord as Amritam, Nectar which is a sure cure for those who are suffering from the disease called ignorance. Amritah also means Moksha. The nectar which cuts all the bondages of Jivas and blesses the Pure-state of Being.
SAASVATA-STHAANUH: One who is both permanent (saasvatah) and irremovable (sthaanuh) is saasvata-sthaanuh, the Supreme Lord Vishnu. The Lord remains the same in all periods of time – present, past and future; before creation, during existence and after dissolution; waking, dream and deep sleep, because He is permanent. He remains changeless in His nature of Consciousness. The permanently Changless Truth in life is Vishnu.
VARAROHAH: Lord is the most Glorious (Vara) Destination (Aaroha). The Self is the most glorious because imperfections of the world-of-matter or Prakriti do not touch the Purusha. All our scriptures, our great Saints and Sages are guiding every individual to realise the Infinitude of the Self. The Upanishads assure again and again that one who has realized the Self never returns to this world which is of the nature of sorrow and impermanence. Withdrawing from all self-centred attitudes of I-ness and ‘my’-ness, one reaches the most glorious destination – the Lord Vishnu.
MAHATAPAAH: One of great Tapas is Mahatapaah. Mundaka Upanishad says: “whose Tapas is of the nature of knowledge”. The Tapas means: Knowledge, prosperity and also might. The Lord is the one of greatest knowledge, greatest prosperity (Sri with Him) and also of greatest strength. There is none equal to Him and He is One without a Second. It is only in the light of the consciousness we come to know about our experiences. It is similar to the light on the drama stage. Conscious of a thing or an idea is what is called knowledge of the thing or the idea. That which I am not conscious of, I have really no knowledge of it. All knowledges in all intellects, in all living creatures, everywhere, at all times cannot be without the light of consciousness. This knowledge is alone is the Pure Knowledge which our Upanishads are talking about. All achievements and prosperity, all might and power of the living creatures can express themselves through them only when they are alive. This great truth is Maha Vishnu.
It is only through renunciation of our ego, we become liberated. When the greatness and glories of the Lord are meditated upon, renunciation is instant which leads us to the Glorious destination.
Hari Om Mahatmas! We will continue tomorrow.
